Functional Footwear Concept
Originally developed in response to a footwear design exercise set by HAIX during an interview process, the project was later continued independently as a personal design study.
Starting from a defined functional framework, the work explores how a technical low-cut shoe can evolve from broad visual experimentation into a more reduced and contemporary product language.
Exploration & Selection
The initial phase explored a wide range of upper constructions, graphic structures and functional expressions. From these early studies, four directions were selected for further development.
Four Design Directions
The selected concepts were developed further through proportion, panel structure, surface treatment and material expression. Each direction interprets the same functional footwear brief with a distinct visual character.
Independent Direction 01
In the later independent phase, the original constraints were deliberately loosened. The first direction reduces the earlier graphic treatment into larger, quieter surfaces and a more coherent geometric structure, while retaining the technical and protective character of the shoe.
Independent Direction 02
The second direction takes the reduction further, using fewer visual elements and a more faceted surface language. Functional details are concentrated into controlled accent points, creating a cleaner and more contemporary interpretation of the original concept.
